Why are you still not online? for goodness sake! who isn’t?

Posted on Thursday 4 October 2007

Move your shop online

Nowadays if your business is not online, your customers will not find you. Don’t think that your current customers are not trying to find a better and cheaper price. The first place people now look when researching a product is online.
If your “customer” finds your competitor and they have a better product or the same product on sale, why will they be loyal to you and get less value for money?

Keeping your retail shop offline will hurt your profits, your exposure and your success. Prices to get online are affordable and easy, why would there be any hesitation? The internet is no longer as scary as it use to be, well it never was, people were just afraid of the change and the advantages of new technology. Credit card transactions in Australia are higher then ever, and people of all ages are online and clicking!

Online shopping presents a more convenient method of shopping without the lines, parking and the crowds. Having recognized the lack of social appeal that e-commerce presents, new navigating tools to ease decision-making are being implemented. As a result, people are becoming more comfortable with shopping online. As online shopping increases, offline retailers are forced to focus on better marketing strategies to promote products and influence customers to shop in their brick and mortar stores instead of online. In a nut shell offline retailers are spending more money on marketing to get customers in to their shop when they could open the door to the online space. What are you doing in your business?

Call us today to discuss getting your products online and off the shelves. Rapid Web Design can custom build your online shop with payment gateways and security measures. Your brand is waiting to get online so make it happen sooner then later, can you afford to miss the (r)e-tail boom!?!

This is your chance to give something back to kids just like you in Laos and East Timor.

Once bad, always bad … Telstra bad service, Again

Posted on Friday 1 June 2007

I Hate TelstraWell what more can I say, After many years as an Optus customer I decided to give Telstra a go and after the installation was complete and may cable and phone service were moved to Telstra I was not shocked to realize they are still the worst service provider in Australia.

So here is my list of why I dislike ;

  • Promised speeds of 17mbps for 8mbps price for 3 months, only put me on 8mbps plan.
  • although on 8mbps plan download speed test resulted 1mbps
  • call centers very rude and interruptive, put me through to disconnections which was closed (left me no choice but to hang up)
  • registered account under mums name who had nothing to do with connecting
  • put myself down as second account user which they still didn’t recognize when i called back
  • technician left wires all up the side of my house, did not instruct me of how to use there online features
  • very low upload speeds compared to ALL providers
  • THEY SUCK ASS!

This was all in two days! Good work guys keep up the poor, pathetic service and quality! :-)

Top 20 Cheapest Australian domain name companies

Posted on Saturday 26 May 2007

Australia has seen a huge drop in .com.au Domain Names in the last many years from hundreds of dollars now down to 15 bucks. I remember the first domain name I bought back in 2000 cost me $150 for 2 years or I could save by registering for 10 years and only pay $500, looking back what a waste of money as I stupidly paid for 10 years. I can now buy the same domain for less then $15 a year, so 10 years would only cost me $150 not $500!

What I am really surprised about is why other domain companies are still charging so much money for domain names, after a quick search I found these domain name companies claiming to be cheap, cheaper and cheapest! But who is really good value for money?

If you are not aware .com.au domain names can only be registered for a minimum of 2 years, so all prices below are based on 2 year .com.au prices.

Top 20 Cheapest Australian domain name companies

1 http://domain.rapidwebdesign.com.au/ $ 29.95

2 http://domains.webcity.com.au $ 34.95

3 http://www.wobygong.com.au/ $ 35.00

4 http://www.domaincentral.com.au/ $ 37.95

5 http://www.cheapdomains.com.au/ $ 38.00

6 http://www.mdwebhosting.com.au/domains/ $ 39.95

7 http://australianwebsites.com.au/ $ 44.00

8 http://www.domain.netregistry.com.au/ $ 44.95

9 http://www.namescout.com/dot_au.asp $ 45.95

10 http://www.australiacheapdomains.com.au $ 59.00

11 http://www.clickngo.com.au/domains_pricing.html $ 59.00

12 http://www.ddns.com.au/prices.php $ 65.00

13 http://www.planetdomain.com.au/?currency=AUD $ 66.00

14 http://www.austdomains.com.au/ $ 69.00

15 http://www.domaincandy.com.au/pricing.asp $ 99.00

16 http://www.aussiehq.com.au/domains/ $ 99.00

17 http://www.domaindirectors.com.au/domains/pricing.htm $ 118.00

18 http://www.domainnames.com.au/ $ 118.00

19 http://www.domainregistration.com.au/ $ 127.00

20 http://www.melbourneit.com.au/cc/domainname/australian-domain-names $ 140.00

Some people might think that it is bias that our company has the cheapest domain names and of course number one on the list but clearly this is facts, I encourage anyone to email me of any cheaper .com.au domain register and I will be happy to update the list.

What also bothers me is the price difference, why is it that domain name companies can charge so much for the same service, because lets face it a domain name is really only a domain name. Why should domain name owner be charged more for their domain name if the register has a 24×7 support line or 99.99% uptime hosting? I could understand that a company may charge more for hosting or web design but for the domain name…???

Just so you know here at Rapid Web Design we offer a 24×7 support line and yet we have the cheapest (I say that with the facts I have found) so why do other companies charge so much? You should ask your self the same question.

You as a domain owner have the right to transfer your domain so make the bloody right choice and choose a cheaper domain, and when I say that I don’t mean us directly spend 1 hour researching your options and choose a company that meets your needs at the right price!

Stop paying up to 467% more for your domain name, your business can not afford it!

Free calls with Nokia N95 Mobile using Engin network

Posted on Friday 18 May 2007

engin logo

Engin is a company i have spoken about before and also a company I recommend, they have announced a new live concept. The new awesome Nokia N95 is the must have phone right now, with so many features to list so just check out the site. The new nokia N95 supports WIFI like many other phones but now is compatible with the engin VoIP network.Nokia N95

The Nokia N95 allows phone users in a WIFI hot spot to use their engin plan as their primary phone line. This means that if you use engin and have a $14.95 plan you can now enjoy talking on your phone for only 22 cents a minute and FREE to any land line phone Australia wide, untime everyday any time.

Here is some words from their press release;

As the pioneer of Internet Telephony in Australia, Engin was one of the first to offer a wireless Internet phone (otherwise known as “VoIP”) service in Australia, using the Nokia N80. Now with the introduction of the NEW Nokia N95, Engin and Nokia are furthering their collaboration to offer Australians high quality, affordable, untimed calls from their mobile.

Making Internet phone calls using the Nokia N95 is as easy as making a traditional phone call. Like the Nokia N80, the N95 is a dual mode phone, so consumers are able to use both Engin and regular GSM calls, once the customer has signed up and activated their Engin account. Engin’s new service complements the existing GSM/WCDMA service by making use of Wireless LAN (WLAN) broadband.

With Engin’s National plan, users pay a monthly fee of $14.95, which allows them to make FREE* untimed local and national calls, or calls to mobiles at 22c per minute. What’s more, it’s free to call Engin to Engin. Engin already offers home users an average saving of up to 55 per cent on their monthly phone bills, cutting the cost of calling for over 60,000 families and small businesses across Australia.

If you like to join up with engin or would like some info feel free to call Rapid Web Design 0438 151 225 today!

Google Analytics Interface Update

Posted on Saturday 12 May 2007

A few days ago i received an email from the Google analytics team to let me know that there is a new interface to make the tool more powerful.

my first opinion was not good but i guess that was from a change in where to find the data i use to find very easily.

after some time i found it very powerful i recommend users watch the tour it gives you a basic idea

“Welcome to the new version of Google Analytics!
Your new reports have been designed to help you learn even more about your site traffic and marketing initiatives.

The redesigned interface is now the default view. To access it, click “View Reports.” We think you’ll love the new Google Analytics, however, you can still access the previous reporting interface. To do so, click “Previous Interface” below the “View Reports” link for any profile in your account. Note that your data and configuration settings remain unaffected regardless of which interface you use and your data continues to be tracked in the same way as it was prior to the redesign.

Google Analytics has many new features. Read our blog post, read the FAQs or watch the flash tour to learn more. If you have difficulty finding specific reports in the new interface, you may find the report finder tool to be helpful.
